Timothy Plummer is a leader in the area of guiding and supporting organizations through a transforming process that dramatically improves company performance. Plummer had a 15 year tenure as a protégé of Philip Crosby, a world-renowned businessman who popularized the idea of the "
price of nonconformance”. He has instituted successful strategic quality initiatives in companies nationwide, including such industries as manufacturing, healthcare, not-for-profits, insurance, and consumer goods.
He is both a trainer and a leader, providing education, guidance, and, as necessary, hands-on assistance to his clients to ferret out and create game plans to address the real “
Price of Non-Conformance” – which translates into more time, more revenue, greater profitability, and greater employee satisfaction.
Tim excels in areas such as:
- Initial leadership training at all levels of management
- Assisting and facilitating the development of impactful, key prevention initiatives
- Acting as accountability coach through implementation
- Providing guidance for measuring results and integrating feedback
Prior to his work at Philip Crosby & Associates, Plummer spent 15 years at Borg Warner Corporation, a highly diversified manufacturing company, leading a variety of operations to greater profitability through reducing the “excess cost of quality”. Specifically, as Executive Vice-President of Worldwide Operations, York Division, he led the turnaround of this $500 million division from significant annual losses to significant annual profitability through major improvements in manufacturable designs, labor productivity, on-time shipments, and inventory. Subsequent to his assignment at York, he became head of Corporate Productivity at Borg Warner, leading a five-year company-wide productivity improvement program. His efforts resulted in 33% productivity improvement across a variety of functions, representing savings of over $800 million. Prior to Borg Warner, Tim worked for Trane Corporation, a manufacturer of HVAC systems, as Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. There, he provided manufacturing leadership for what at that time was the largest new product development project in Trane’s history. The four year project resulted in a 35% cost improvement and reduced manufacturing lead time from 20 weeks to 6 weeks, an achievement that doubled market share.
Tim has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, graduating with honors in Mechanical Engineering. He currently resides with his wife in Lincolnshire, Illinois.
